Public Library, Cronulla NSW

bokor architecture + interiors delivered the new 800 m2 library in Cronulla for the Sutherland Shire Council, which included full design, documentation and administration of the project. The council spent $130,000 establishing new collections for the library which also boasts the largest audio visual collection in the Sutherland Shire. There are also news & lounge areas, a link to the café and office facilities for the community and a kids corner with gaming facilities & several computers with internet and a wireless network.

Of prime consideration in the design of the library was the acoustic treatment required to baffle the noise from the busy street and carpark above which bokor successfully integrated into the architectural elements.

Since opening, there has been a much higher usage of the library with an increase in the number of registrations and loans.
