Suit Supply, Sydney

bokor architecture + interiors were commissioned to act as the local architects by Dutch retailer, Suitsupply, to oversee the design implementation, tender process and construction of it’s flagship store in Australia. The location of the store is at 5 Martin Place, Sydney, in the heritage listed, banking chamber of the redeveloped ‘money box’ building.

Suitsupply is a major European brand, renowned for its focus on expertly crafted men’s tailoring and is an exciting addition to the Sydney retail scene. As well as mens suits and accessories, the store also has a custom made to measure department and an in-house tailor.

Discreet street signage leads the way into the marble clad entry foyer on Pitt Street. Once inside, the store opens up to reveal a vibrant and energetic interior which complements the uniformity of the suit collections. Bold and colourful wallpapers designs which are a juxposition of geometric black and whites mixed with colourful handmarbled patterns. The colours and textures complement the  oversized lightboxes that display images from the latest Suitsupply marketing campaigns. Reminiscent of a department store, the store is broken up into a variety of rooms to suit different functions with central lounging areas where the client can relax whilst the staff present them with fashion options.

bokor worked closely with the City of Sydney Council and a heritage consultant to ensure that the fabric of the building was kept intact and undamaged, particularly through the construction phase, and that the intergrity of the heritage period details were maintained.
